1.Protecting personal information
- Don't share your home address, workplace details or daily routine early on
- Don't send anyone a photo of your national ID card, birth registration or passport
- Never share an OTP, password or bKash/Nagad PIN
- Don't send private or intimate photos
To share a phone number, use ShadiMaker's “contact request” — it keeps a record of who received the number and when.
2.Common signs of fraud
3.Communicating safely online
- Talk in ShadiMaker's own messages at first
- Give priority to profiles with the verified badge
- Keep your family informed about your conversations
- Confirm who they are on a video call, with family present if possible
- If you feel uncomfortable, you have every right to stop talking
4.The first meeting
Take a guardian, a mahram or a trusted relative to the first meeting; do not meet alone.
A restaurant, a family home or somewhere with other people around.
Don't get into the car of someone you don't know.
Where, with whom and when — let someone you trust know.
5.Special advice for guardians
- When speaking on behalf of your son or daughter, check the other family's identity
- Don't impose a decision without the bride's or groom's consent and views
- Be careful if anyone asks for a “matchmaker fee” or “registration fee” — asking for such a fee in ShadiMaker's name is fraud
6.What to do if something goes wrong
Don't send money or information.
Keep screenshots of the messages — don't delete them.
Click the “Report” button on the profile or in messages. Our team will look at it within 24 hours.
In cases of fraud or harassment, contact your nearest police station or the national emergency service on 999.
